Vaughan OPR Webinar: Climate Resilience & Adaptation

On June 4, 2019, the Mayor and Members of Council unanimously passed a Members Resolution to declare a climate emergency in the City of Vaughan. How can Vaughan's Official Plan respond to the Climate Emergency?

On April 20th, 2022, Christina Schwantes, Advisor, Climate Risk and Resilience at WSP will lead a conversation about climate change mitigation and adaptation. Christina discussed how municipalities are at the forefront of climate change policy in Canada. Participants were invited to participate and ask questions during a live Q&A session following the presentation.

Vaughan OPR Webinar: Affordable Housing

Housing prices are becoming increasingly out-of-reach for many Canadians. What can Vaughan do to make sure our City is a place that welcomes residents of all incomes, ages and stages of life?


Join us for an interactive webinar from 7:00pm - 8:00pm on April 27th, 2022, where Johanna Hashim Manager of a Housing Policy and Research at SHS Consulting, and leader in the field of housing and homelessness research will address how our youth can realistically afford to grow families in Vaughan and how our seniors can age in place. Participants will be invited to participate and ask questions during the live Q&A session following the presentation.

Vaughan OPR Webinar: Placemaking

Amongst the many lessons of COVID-19 has been the importance of social gathering. How can Vaughan create great gathering spaces that build community and allow for events and spontaneous day-to-day interactions? How can we create sustainable places that respect the environment and mitigate the effects of climate change?

On May 9, 2022, the City of Vaughan hosted a webinar in support of the Official Plan Review related to Placemaking. Anne McIlroy, Principal of Brook McIlroy and urban designer for projects across Canada and the United States delivered a presentation on Placemaking and Urban Design. The webinar involved a discussion about how Vaughan can create great urban spaces, parks and streetscapes through the lens of sustainability. Participants were invited to participate and ask questions during a live Q&A following the presentation.

Vaughan OPR Webinar: Healthy Communities

How can the way we design our communities improve the physical and mental health of residents?

On May 12th, 2022, the City of Vaughan hosted a webinar in support of the Official Plan Review related to Healthy Communities. Antonio Gomez-Palacio, Partner at Dialog, architect, urban planner and designer delivered a presentation on Healthy communities. The conversation touched on important subjects such as developing inclusive communities and fostering social cohesion through design. Participants were invited to participate and ask questions during a live Q&A session following the presentation.
